Dr. Fan is widely acknowledged as one of China’s most prominent
economists and holds several senior positions in academia, public
administration and in the private sector.
In addition to his role as advisor to the People's Bank of China's
monetary-policy committee to which he was appointed by the government in
2006, Dr. Fan is also the Secretary General of the National Economic
Research Institute in Beijing. Dr. Fan also serves as Professor of
Economics, Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
(CASS), an influential government think tank. Other positions include
Non-Executive Director of Ping An Insurance, Professor at Beijing
University as well as consultant to numerous international organizations
including the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP),
the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and
the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the
Pacific (ESCAP).
Earlier in his career, Dr. Fan was a visiting fellow at Harvard
University’s National Bureau of Economic Research. Dr. Fan received his
PhD in economics at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences.
